South Australian Police would have come across some very unusual circumstances in its long history, but finding a shark in a roadside puddle would have to be a first.
A community member contacted police at about 10.45am on the morning of August 26 to report they had found a small shark, which was still alive, in a roadside puddle at the intersection of Yorktown Road and Black Top Road, One Tree Hill.
Police found the shark, believed to be a Port Jackson, still alive when they attended the scene.
The fish was rescued by a member of Fauna Rescue SA who placed it into a container of water and at last report the shark was still alive.
A police spokesperson has ruled out the possibility of a Sharknado, but can not say how the shark found its way to the puddle.
They believe the shark may have been caught earlier in the day and dumped, or was kept as a pet but had grown too large for its tank.
