Taren Point Public School pupils have been part of an inter-generational program that connects children to residents at Goodhew Gardens Retirement Village.
Pupils have visited the village each week this year to chat and read to, and entertain residents with creative arts performances.
Goodhew Gardens Lifestyle Leader, Irene Pitsis, says residents are always excited by the visit.
“The genuine engagement between the kids and our residents clearly shows the benefits of inter-generational programs,” she said.
“The residents come alive in the presence of the children and even with communication barriers, the children manage to be truly present and this has a very positive impact on our residents.”
