At just 10 years old Leo Berry knows he is luckier than some kids.
Which is why the Bexley North local has spent the last few months collecting more than 1600 pairs of shoes for charity Soles4Souls.
The organisation was formed in 2011 and collects gently worn and new shoes for children, women and men in need around the world both in Australia and abroad.
The organisation was handpicked by Leo, who spent weeks researching which charity he wanted to fundraise for.
‘’I wanted to find something that would help people but didn’t involve money,’’ he said.
‘’With this you could donate as much shoes as you could.’’
It isn’t the first time he has single handedly got behind a cause- last year he raised more than $3000 for the Royal Flying Doctor.
‘’I think I have too much so I can give it to people who need it more,’’ he said.
Despite still being in primary school he has high career goals.
‘’My long term goal is to be the CEO of a charity that helps a lot of different people,’’ he said.
His mother Renee Berry said she was extremely proud of him.
‘’He has a special heart and he really feels things strongly,’’ she said.
‘’When he comes to us with a charity we always back him up and support him. We’ll continue to nurture that.
‘’It’s something as simple as giving a pair of shoes. He said we had all those shoes so we should give them to someone who really needs it.’’
