Kogarah Primary School in Gladstone Street extends the use of the premises and grounds on Sunday morning for the Chinese community to hold “classes”.
From before 9am, the street has constant movement of cars dropping off children, U-turns, drivers looking for parking, slamming car doors, horn blowing; visitors to residents living in this street are blocked out from parking on this street.
Because most suburban cars are big 4-wheel drive, the drivers need driveways to properties, to execute a three-point turn, so pedestrians walking along the footpath need to be very cautious of cars, frequently, crossing the pathway.
Soon after 9am, the noise of children at play, bell ringing for class changes, loud-speaker in the playgrounds at the school.
These children and parents leave the school grounds around midday, the traffic congestion, the noise commences again.
Sunday could be a quiet day of rest. Not so.
No changes to the traffic conditions by council will alleviate these Sunday problems.
The suburb is being over-developed, the state government wants to ’better utilise’ its school grounds, the community pays through inconvenience and broken lifestyle conditions.
