An investigation was launched after a man contacted a financial institution and fraudulently identified himself in February.
Between February 26 and March 1 the man used fraudulent personal details to electronically transfer almost $54,000 to three different bank accounts.
On March 1 the man went to an ATM in Campsie and withdrew some of the cash.
St George police on Wednesday released images of a man in the hopes of identifying him.
He is described as being of Pacific Islander appearance, about 175cm-180cm tall with black hair and brown eyes.
