Re the article ‘‘Teen referee puncher avoids jail’’ (Leader, August 31).
I am the father of the 16-year-old league referee who was assaulted in June.
My family was hopeful that our justice system would make a strong statement when a verdict was handed down in this matter last week.
Coward punches as we all know have killed innocent people.
The decision to hand down an 18-month good behavior bond is so far out of touch with community expectations it beggars belief.
To everyone who sent my son messages of support during this ordeal we thank you for you support.
