Re the article ‘‘Clearway at Heathcote on all Sundays’’ (Leader, August 31).
Welcome to Sydney’s Princes Highway and its trouble free, free flowing traffic, where the speed limit varies enabling drivers the luxury of travelling at either 100 to 80 or 60 or 40. The school zones where some schools already have a footbridge and several lights, but as a courtesy to drivers they still make it 40.
Oh, not to mention the pain-free traffic lights every 100 meters or so, the bus stops which take up a lane in traffic, cyclists and the mobile speed cameras.
It's amazing how the government has placed all these wonderful distractions on our highways to aid drivers in travel time.
I know let’s add more units and free-up a clearway on Sundays.
Matthew Merillo
The northbound traffic jams are due to poor traffic light phasing at Oliver Street and Wilson Parade, not the clearway.
It’s 2 lanes almost the entire way from Picton Road to Heathcote. Yet no traffic jams till the lights.

When will idiots learn that you have a freeway road (100km/h) meeting a Sydney metropolitan road (60km/h) and it doesn’t matter what you do, there will always be a build up of traffic.

Well they didn’t want the F6 going through the national park and now they have this instead.

Why stop at Heathcote? Roll it out everywhere.

Sucks if you’re local or a business that relies on passing trade. Parking on the western side streets is unsatisfactory.
