Former Rockdale resident Jake Soutter has realised every footballer’s dream after signing his first professional contract.
The 18-year-old has signed a contract that will keep him with English Championship club Fulham, managed by Serbian Slaviša Jokanović, until the end of the season.
The giant 195cm tall goalkeeper joined Fulham two years ago and recently took part in the club’s under-23s squad pre-season trip to Portugal.
Soutter said he was delighted to sign his first professional contract after he missed the first season of a two-year scholarship with the club’s under-18s through injury and a delay getting an international clearance from FIFA.
After completing the pre-season tour Soutter has now gone to work with the club’s under-23 Premier League 2 squad and is looking forward training and competing with Fulham’s senior shot stoppers including Marcus Bettinelli and David Button.
