Pupils at Cronulla South Public School swapped their usual hairstyles for some crazy looks this week, all in the name of friendship.
The school hosted a crazy hair day event as part of a fun activity to promote social inclusion.
Pupils raised money for its friendship tree mural, which was designed to promote the school’s positive behaviour for learning.
The student representative council and volunteers painted the mural for their playground, which carries the motto, ‘stand by this tree and I will see that you need me.’
Principal Natalia Greguric said the mural was one of several artistic projects planned by the school.
“The idea behind it is that it is a safe place for our students to go to when they are feeling lonely or left out,” she said.
“The mural is covered with ideas and prompts to encourage and support children to join in play.
“It also supports other students to show kindness and inclusion.
“Our teachers have seen an increase in students supporting each other and using problem solving skills to work out social situations on their own.”
