St George Illawarra have announced the signing of South Sydney hooker Cameron McInnes on a two-year deal.
The 22-year-old will begin pre-season training with the Dragons in November.
McInnes has played 39 NRL games and will most likely be a direct replacement for departing local junior Mitch Rein.
McInnes made his first grade debut two seasons ago at the SCG – against the Dragons – before going on to captain the Junior Kangaroos later in 2014.
McInnes said he was delighted to be joining the Red V.
“I’ve played with Drew Hutchinson and Euan Aitken in the Junior Kangaroos a couple of years back,” he said.
“Then you’ve got the likes of Josh Dugan, Tyson Frizell and Gareth Widdop who are all great players so I’m really looking forward to getting out on the field with those guys.
“I’ve watched a lot of [Dragons] games this year and played against them twice. It’s always a tough game against the Dragons.”
McInnes joins Gold Coast winger Nene Macdonald as new signings for the Dragons next season, with the 22-year-old Macdonald joining St George Illawarra on a three-year contract.
