He was the shining light in an otherwise dismal season for St George Illawarra but the Dragons have announced NSW back-rower Tyson Frizell has re-signed with the club until the end of 2020.
The 24-year-old has signed a three-year contract extension with the Red V after what was an outstanding personal year.
Frizell made his State of Origin debut, playing twice for the Blues before being selected in the Australian Prime Minister’s XIII team that will face Papua New Guinea in Port Moresby on Saturday.
Meanwhile, St George Illawarra’s under-20s side will meet the Sydney Roosters in their preliminary final at Allianz Stadium on Friday night.
The Roosters knocked Cronulla’s Holden Cup side out of the competition in their elimination final last weekend, which saw the young Sharks bow out with two straight semi-final defeats.
The game will precede the Sharks-Cowboys NRL final.
Kick-off is at 5.15pm.
