Star Wars heroes and villains were out in force at the Shire Donor Centre this month, when the community united to save lives in Australia’s first-ever costumed blood drive.
A group of the region’s Star Wars Rebel Legion Tython Base dressed-up and donated blood as part of the blood service’s galactic forces challenge.
There for the event was Miranda’s Tanner Curtis, 14, who was made an honorary member of Galactic Forces.
Tanner had received plenty of blood transfusions after he was diagnosed with infantile acute lymphoblastic leukaemia at seven months of age.
The blood drive at the Shire Donor Centre Miranda runs until the end of September.
Donations are essential to helping the blood service recover stocks following increased demand from hospitals.
