A man, 72, has been arrested after another man was attacked at an aged care facility at Rockdale last night.
Just after 7pm on Sunday emergency services were called to an aged care facility on Fredrick Street at Rockdale.
Police said a man entered one of the rooms, armed with a knife, and attacked a man, 72, before fleeing.
Paramedics treated the victim for cuts to his neck, arms and hands before taking him to St George Hospital in a serious condition.
He is expected to undergo surgery today.
St George police have since arrested a man, 72, and took him to Kogarah police station where he was charged him with causing wounding/grievous bodily harm with intent to murder.
He was refused bail to appear in Sutherland Local Court today.
