Re-open the road
Re ‘‘Next Stage in Sharks build’’ (Leader, September 21).
Before the Woolooware Bay Town Centre progresses any further, can the responsible bodies finish the ludicrously slow roadwork outside the site and re-open lane one of the Captain Cook Drive eastbound along that section?
The roadwork has closed this lane since March.
The traffic banks up on this section of the road, causing much frustration to drivers going east to Woolooware and Cronulla.
I wrote to Sutherland Shire Council once in mid-July, but I have never received a proper response.
It seems that my voice has been swept under the carpet.

A daily walk won’t hurt
I have lived in Caringbah for 50 years.
It’s still a good place to live but over-development is causing heavy traffic congestion on roads.
Port Hacking Road South is gridlocked in the morning with cars bumper to bumper past Burraneer Bay Road.
Mothers taking children to De La Salle College in their SUVs don’t help.
In my day we walked the 1-2 kilometres each day - rain, hail or shine.

Secure land for bypass
I would like to know if there are any plans for an extension of Bangor bypass to Heathcote Road?
I think it should be a priority to secure the land because it’s quite obvious there is a need to extend through the land at some stage.
Perhaps the RMS could set aside this parcel of land? Or perhaps a nice councillor could have a word to those that can achieve this?

Nature strip an eyesore
The native garden strip on the Kingsway between Urunga Parade and Kiora Road, is overrun with weeds and rubbish. It is littered everywhere particularly near the pedestrian lights near Central Road – typical of council whose strategy is plant and forget! It is also most prominent directly outside the office of Miranda MP Eleni Petinos.

Meanwhile, west side
I totally abhor the development on the Heathcote Hall site - but something is bothering me greatly.
Why has there been no mention of the monstrosity being built opposite Heathcote Public School on the west side of town?
Doesn’t that qualify for comment as well.
Grant Wells, Heathcote
Dangerous thinking
RE the article “Woolies and Payce do deal” (Leader, September 21).
I suggest that we commission a study (a Royal Commission should suffice) to investigate if lumping hundreds of units with barely a car space per unit, supermarkets, an expanded car dealership, shops, big-box liquor store, a huge hotel and a long-day care centre all within a block of one another without adding any road or rail capacity, cycle ways or footpaths, will have any detrimental affect to amenity and travel time.
I mean, who in their right mind would suggest that infrastructure precede development and population? That’s just plain dangerous thinking right there!

Between the brick pits, the proposed childcare centre on the other side of oak rd and now this, traffic around that area is going to be a nightmare. I think anyone living on Kirrawee High school side will need to add an extra 15 minutes or so to their trip just to get out onto the highway.
Melissa Taylor
The traffic is already a problem driving through Kirrawee!
