The students and volunteers of Sailability Kogarah Bay will be more than ready for summer sailing season thanks to the generous support of Club Rivers.
Sailability Kogarah Bay provides a weekly sailing program in conjunction with the Department of Education, for over 500 students from Special Schools and High Schools from the St George region with special needs and life skills.
Club Rivers have donated $10,000 to the Sailability team to help with the upkeep of their 12 sailing boats and replace equipment.
Last Wednesday, the members of the Club Rivers CRcommuniTEAM visited Sailability Kogarah Bay to present the cheque for $10,000.
Following this the Club Rivers team ventured out into the water to see the great work of Sailability’s more than 30 volunteers.
Sailability have seen tremendous positive effects with their program, Sailability secretary Peter Hogan said.
“The difference during and after sailing is immediately obvious by the reaction of the students,” he said.
“They have a smile on their face, become less fidgety and in some cases fall asleep while on the boat which shows the relaxing effect of being on the water.”
