Sharks fans have been warned they could have trouble getting on to bus for Sunday’s rugby league grand final.
Sports Minister Stuart Ayres said grand final tickets included return travel on public transport, and extra trains and major event bus services would be run.
“Fans travelling from the Sutherland Shire need to be aware the Sydney Olympic Park major event buses will be in high demand and are expected to reach capacity quickly,” he said.
“Sharks fans are recommended to catch a train to Redfern or Central station and change for a direct train to Olympic Park instead.
“Fans can plan their trip by visiting 131500.com.au or call the Transport Info line on 131 500.”
There are two major event bus routes from the shire to ANZ Stadium.
Route 7 starts outside the Sharkies leagues club, with stops at Endeavour High School, Westfield Miranda, Seymour Shaw Park, Bellingara Road netball courts, Sylvania High School and Southgate shopping centre.
Route 6 starts at Woronora, with stops on Menai Road near Dandarbong Avenue and Anzac Road; Menai Road and Alison Crescent; Old Illawarra Road near Bradman Road; and Menai High School.
Mr Ayres suggested fans arrive early for the pre-game entertainment which will kick off at 11am in Cathy Freeman park outside ANZ Stadium.
He said 21,000 Melbourne Storm supporters were expected in Sydney.
