A woman, 37, was charged under “Skye’s Law” after a police pursuit through Brighton-Le-Sands and Kogarah.
The chase ended with the woman’s car crashing into another vehicle.
A police spokesman said, about 10.20pm on Wednesday night, police attempted to stop a Toyota Camry in Bay Street, Brighton-Le -Sands.
“The vehicle failed to stop and continued on to Princes Highway,” he said.
“At the intersection of Princes Highway and Grey Street, Kogarah, the vehicle drove through a red light and struck a Mitsubishi Lancer which was being driven by a woman, 20,” he said.
“The driver of the Camry, a woman, 37, was removed from the vehicle having suffered an injured ankle.”
“She was taken to St George Hospital, where she remains.”
The spokesman said the woman was issued with a field court attendance notice for the offence of police pursuit (Skye’s Law).
He said her licence was not suspended, correcting an earlier statement her licence had been taken away.
The woman is due to appear at Sutherland Local Court on November 22.
The driver of the Mitsubishi was uninjured.
