A search for two women believed to be missing since yesterday in the Royal National Park resumed at 8am, after the 21-year-olds reported themselves lost on Wednesday afternoon.
The search is in addition to a nearby operation searching for 16-year-old Cassie Olczak, missing since Sunday after apparently leaving a train at Waterfall station. Police say there is no link between the two cases.
Officers from Police Rescue and the Sutherland Local Area Command are conducting the search for the two women, Nikki Groves and Kate Bateup, who contacted officers from the National Parks and Wildlife Service about 2pm on Wednesday.
They told officers they had walked on an unknown track east from Waterfall Railway Station and had become lost.
Police have not been able to re-establish contact with the women since the call.
Sutherland police launched a search with the Lifesaver helicopter, the Rural Fire Service, the State Emergency Service and park rangers, which was suspended at 7pm due to darkness.
Police have not been able to confirm if the women are still lost, or were able to make their way out.
Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers on1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au/.
Additional resources are expected to join the searches for all three women during the day.
