The Caringbah Redbacks under-8s A team represented the Sutherland Shire at the Sydney International Cup earlier this month.
The invitation only, annual end of season tournament features some of the best junior teams from around the country as well as a handful of international sides.
The competition was held at the Sydney Academy of Sport, Narrabeen over the October long weekend, with Caringbah’s first time participants shining to finish sixth out of 16 teams.
The side, made up of Oliver May, Luke Orsina, Xandar Hubbard, Sebastien Impey, Toby Tindale, Harry Kane, Samuel Stewart, Marcus Barsoom, Riley Martin and Ethan Hilton, made their club proud as they were praised for both their ability as a team but also their sportsmanship.
The Redbacks finished second in group B behind CCFC Crocodiles and scored 10 goals, only conceding four, in their matches. Caringbah also played against the Christchurch Football Academy and SDB Northern Beaches.
