Kidney recipient Heather Edgell of Caringbah won medals at the 2016 Australian Transplant Games for her efforts in raising awareness of organ donation.
She was also recognised for her contribution to the NSW Victor Chang Memorial Shield.
Mrs Edgell, who previously relied on a machine to live, celebrated her renewed health by taking part in one of the largest events for organ donation awareness in the nation.
The event aims to inspire more people to join the Australian Organ Donor Register online at donatelife.gov.au
Mrs Edgell received three gold and five silver medals in athletics and swimming.
