Sydney Airport has won a major industry award for its incident and emergency management strategy.
Sydney Airport chief executive Kerrie Mather welcomed the award from the Australian Airports Association.
“It’s our priority to deliver the highest levels of safety and security for our passengers, staff and stakeholders,” she said.
“We’re thrilled that our strong safety culture has been recognised through this Airport Safety Week award and we’re very proud of our people’s commitment to living our safety values in their daily work.
“We’ll continue to drive improvement in the areas of safety and security as part of our vision to provide a world-class airport experience.”
The strategy has significantly enhanced safety at the airport through new technology and initiatives including an improved communications system, better weather tracking and forecasts and greater collaboration with airport stakeholders.
