A man, 39, was stabbed during a confrontation with a man known to him at a Kogarah bus stop.
Police said, about 12.30pm on Sunday, the victim was sitting with a friend at a bus stop on Station Street when a man, 30, approached with a knife.
The armed man was known to the victim, police said.
“Initial inquiries have led police to believe the armed man stabbed the 39-year-old once in the abdomen, before assaulting him and leaving the scene towards Railway Parade,” a spokesman said.
“Emergency services were called and the injured man was taken to St George Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.”
Police are looking for the assailant, who was wearing a grey shirt and blue jeans.
