A body found at Blakehurst is believed to be that of a man, 64, who went missing from his Vaughan Street home a week ago.
Police said, while formal identification needed to take place, they believed it was the missing resident.
St George police went to Pleasant Way about 6.30pm on Sunday after receiving a report.
“The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious,” a police spokesman said.
“A report will be prepared for the Coroner.”
An extensive search was conducted last week after the resident was reported missing.
It involved Water Police, Police Rescue and public online appeals.
Police said the man may have been involved in a minor crash that afternoon.
There were concerns for his welfare because he required regular medication and his behaviour was considered out of character.
