Work starts tonight (Thursday) to install a new closed circuit television (CCTV) camera outside Westfield Miranda to monitor traffic flow.
The camera will be installed at the intersection of Kingsway and Kiora Road.
Roads and Maritime Services said it would provide visibility of traffic conditions on Kingsway between Jackson Avenue and Wandella Road.
“The work will take four night shifts to complete from 9pm to 5am, between Thursday, October 27, and Wednesday, November 9, weather permitting,” a spokesman said.
“Day work from 7am to 5pm will also be required.
“Lane closures will be in place and may affect travel times. Road users should keep to speed limits and follow signs and the direction of traffic controllers.”
The camera is being funded under the state government’s $246 million Pinch Point program, which aims to reduce delays, manage congestion and improve travel times on Sydney’s major roads particularly during weekday peaks.
“CCTV cameras provide real-time traffic information to the Transport Management Centre, which monitors and manages the road network,” the spokesman said.
