An Australian rules club in Sutherland has received a $13,000 grant to help improve its club facilities.
Club Waratah, which includes junior club the Miranda Bombers and senior club the Southern Power, have received the grant which was announced yesterday. The money will go towards installing roller shutters, for security, and is the latest in a number of improvements to Waratah Park.
The upgraded facilities are part of a plan to develop a regional AFL and sporting hub at Waratah Park.
The grant comes from the Community Building Partnership Program run by the NSW Government.
Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres and Heathcote MP Lee Evans were on hand at the park yesterday, to make the announcement.
“This is exactly the kind of project that the Community Building Partnership Program can be used to achieve – it means the clubs that use Waratah Park can rest easy knowing their equipment and facilities are safe,” Mr Ayres said.
