A Heathcote homeowner got more than they bargained for after surprising a naked intruder.
Sutherland police said a man entered a Copeland Street house around 10pm last night while no-one was home.
The occupants arrived home at about 11.30pm and found water running in the bathroom, which had subsequently flooded the house.
A short time later, the intruder ran out of the house wearing only a shower cap, slip on shoes and a headlamp.
Police set up a crime scene and with the help of the dog unit found the naked man, 40, hiding in dense bushland off Heathcote Road.
He was arrested and taken to Sutherland police station where he was charged with breaking and entering dwelling-house with intent to damage or destroy.
He has been refused bail to appear in Sutherland Local Court today.
Police believe the man was recently evicted from his CBD home before he travelled to the area.
