Sutherland Shire’s flagship Australia Day concert at Cronulla for 2017 will feature the internationally acclaimed Ten Tenors.
They are part of an exciting two-day program of free entertainment called AUSFEST to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Sutherland Shire’s popular Australia Day celebrations which will take place once again on the famous beachfront stage at Cronulla Park.
Day one of AUSFEST takes place on Australia Day, January 26 and features of the program will include a screening of the documentary Storm Surfers with world champion Tom Carroll, performances from the Engadine and Miranda musical societies, the Original Sin INXS Show, Chantelle Symes and the JC All-stairs playing Aussie rock classics.
Returning to the Cronulla celebrations for the first time in ten years, the headline act, The Ten Tenors will sing a range of classical and popular music.
The celebrations culminate in the traditional fireworks spectacular at 9pm.
Day two of AUSFEST will be Shire Vibes,an event that promises smooth tunes and a chilled out atmosphere.
Shire Vibes will be a showcase of local talent headlined by Caravana Sun and including performances by The Spring Breaks, Josh Arentz, Danielle Lamb and Matty Jay, and Dylan Wright.
There will be plenty of food available both in the park with the traditional Rotary Club barbecue with proceeds going to this year’s nominated charity Response for Life.
Local cafes and restaurants will be open or people can bring their own food and picnic under the pines in the park.
Other highlights include a visit by Cronulla Sharks players, a silent disco and an art installation of five giant bunnies by artist Amanda Parer.
Participants are encouraged to catch the train to Cronulla to avoid the parking queue with extra train services running every 15 minutes until midnight, January 26.
