More than 60 young players took part in the seventh annual Aron Price Junior Open at Kareela Golf Club late last month.
The young golfers represented 26 clubs including Gerringong, Federal (ACT), Stonecutters Ridge, Long Reef and Nelson Bay.
The A-Grade boys’ winner was 12-year-old Jeffrey Guan. The Bexley Golf Club member put together an impressive one under par round of 64 on the short but challenging course.
Bankstown’s Claire Shin was the girls’ A-Grade champion, shooting 74. Her clubmate, Rhys Vella, had a net 60 playing off a handicap of 11.
Danial Fazzolari from North Ryde was named the boys’ division one winner with 40 points. Eastlake’s Chris Stemi won division two, also with 40 points.
Kareela’s Sophia Perkins won the girls’ division with 41 points playing off 36.
Matthew Xu was the youngest competitor in the field. The six-year-old finished fourth in his division with 37 points.
