An annual donation drive is underway at Southgate Shopping Centre to help children in need of school supplies ahead of the up-coming school year.

Operation Backpack started last week, with donations being accepted at the shopping centre in Sylvania. The initiative allows the local community to donate new back-to-school items such as pencils, pencil cases, lunch boxes, school bags, and drink bottles.

All donations will be distributed to local families by the St Vincent De Paul Society.

Supporters can drop donations into the collection container near Kmart Sylvania. Donations are open until Friday, January 20.
