Blakehurst dancer Bec Morris has lived and breathed dance since she was two.
Now at 24 she plans to take on the world stage after working alongside some of the biggest names in music.
She was introduced to dancing by her mum who was also a tap and ballet dancer.
She learnt jazz, tap and ballet during her time at Brent Street and at 16 decided she wanted to continue to pursue her passion professionally.
Ms Morris said dance has always been a part of her.
“I always had music in my heart from a very young age,’’ she said.
“I really enjoyed dancing and moving. It’s hard to pinpoint what it is but it’s just ingrained into my soul.’’
Over the years she has worked with some of music’s biggest names including Justin Bieber, Little Mix, Charli XCX, Jessie J, Redfoo, LunchMoney Lewis, Aston Merrygold, Kelly Clarkson and Flo Rida.
She has also performed regularly on Australian TV show The X Factor.
She said one of her favourite performances was with Little Mix with the other being featured in Justin Beiber’s Purpose music video.
She said the opportunity was a complete fluke.
“I had a chance after a friend who was originally going to do it was sick,’’ she said.
“I didn’t even know what the video was going to be for before I got there. When I arrived they told me it was a video for Justin Bieber. I said ‘sorry, what?’.”
Staying at the top of her profession takes commitment. Each morning she heads to the gym and makes sure to fit in at least two to three dance classes each week.
She also hones her skills teaching hip hop and jazz classes at Brent Street.
Her next goal is to share her love of dancing to a wider audience by moving overseas.
“I want to be bigger and better and go further,’’ she said.
“I want to make an imprint and to be able to share what I create.’’
