12.01pm: Southbound lanes on the M1 Princes Motorway have reopened in Mount Pleasant following a truck rollover near New Mount Pleasant Road on Monday morning.
All diversions have been lifted but traffic remains heavy on Mount Ousley Road, the Princes Highway and Bulli Pass.
10.30am: Southbound lanes on the M1 Princes Motorway remain closed at New Mount Pleasant after a truck rollover on Monday morning.
Wollongong Fire and Rescue Inspector Andrew Erlik said he was confident at least one southbound lane would be open to all traffic by midday, if not earlier.
"At the moment the truck has been slightly moved," Inspector Erlik said.
"A recovery vehicle to pick up the truck and its trailer should be on scene [around 10.45am].
He said a recovery vehicle was picking up the truck’s load of circus equipment which was strewn across the road.
Earlier: The M1 Princes Motorway is blocked southbound after a truck rollover near the New Mount Pleasant Road overpass in New Mount Pleasant.
Motorists travelling south are advised to avoid the area and to divert via Bulli Pass, then the Princes Highway.
Heavy vehicles are being diverted via Picton Road, then the Hume Motorway.
Ambulance NSW Illawarra duty operations manager Norm Rees said the driver, 36, was able remove himself from the truck and did not require treatment.
Fire and Rescue NSW acting superintendent Jay Bland said fire units from Balgownie and Wollongong were called to the scene, as well as a HAZMAT unit.
"The load on the truck was building materials, like fencing products," he said.
"The rollover caused a slow leak of diesel from the fuel tank, so crews are in place to fix that."
He said a tow truck was in position to clear the truck and its trailer, with emergency services hoping to reopen southbound lanes this morning.
