It wasn’t the celebration she was hoping for but it was still a day to remember for Teresa Polias, with the Sydney FC midfielder making her 100th W-League appearance last weekend.
The Ramsgate RSL and Carss Park junior played the full 90 minutes as the Sky Blues suffered an upset 3-1 loss to the Newcastle Jets at Lambert Park on Saturday.
An Arin Gilliland hat-trick for the Jets was followed by Kyah Simon’s 93rd minute consolation for Sydney FC.
The 26-year-old from Brighton-Le-Sands made 15 appearances for the Central Coast Mariners between 2008 and 2010 before joining Sydney FC. The clash with the Jets was her 85th appearance for the Sky Blues. Polias played every minute of Sydney FC’s 2012-13 W-League title-winning season.
Sydney FC can seal the Premier’s Plate with a victory over eighth-placed Adelaide United in their final regular season match on Sunday.
