Melbourne has been named the world’s most liveable city for the past six years and it’s no surprise that it’s also home to Australia’s most pampered pooches.
Data from online trade and services marketplace, Oneflare shows that VIC was the Australian state most likely to request a pet groomer, making up 29 per cent of requests. Meanwhile, NSW came in at close second, making up 28 per cent of all pet grooming requests.
It was also revealed about half of those seeking a pet groomer were for smaller sized dogs.
Mathew Bentley lists his business on Oneflare, Holiday Pet and Home Care, and said he’s definitely had more clients bring in smaller dogs.
“Because of the climate and more people living in apartments, smaller dogs seem to be the trend and designer dogs by far call for the most care,” Mr Bentley said.
Mr Bentley said there are more requests for silky terriers, shih tzus, cavoodles and poodles.
Requests for a pet groomer across Australia continues to rise with a 31 per cent increase in requests on Oneflare during the past year.
COO of Oneflare, Ken Tabuki said there is a need, with the large number of household dogs in Australia.
“As Australians open their homes to more pets, this is a category that will continue to grow,” Mr Tabuki said.
It’s unknown yet whether the increase in pet ownership will end soon with pet restrictions in rental homes.
