About 40,000 people welcomed the Year of the Rooster during the Hurstville Lunar New Year Street Festival on Saturday.
There were traditional Dragon and Lion dances followed by a program of singing, dancing, martial arts demonstrations and children’s entertainment.
The Georges River Council Lunar New Year program this month is the largest in NSW outside the city of Sydney.
Kogarah will host a second event on Thursday.
