YMCA Caringbah were named the 2016 large club of the year at the annual Gymnastics NSW awards earlier this month.
A peer voted award, Caringbah received recognition for its performance in acrobatic and women’s gymnastics as well as their strong community outlook.
Gymnasts across NSW celebrated a year of great achievements in the sport at the awards with the top accolade going to Sydney Gymnastics Centre, who were named the Gymnastics NSW club of the year.
The greatest achievement of the night came from the state as a whole. Gymnastics is ranked the fourth most popular sport for children within Australia, with NSW holding the largest population of gymnasts within the country.
Gymnastics NSW chief executive Aaron Bloomfield noted that these successes could only be achieved by a united state body.
“There is no doubt that 2016 was a year to celebrate,” he said.
“This success is a testament to the hundreds of dedicated clubs coaches and officials that work tirelessly throughout NSW to ensure the growth and progression of this incredible sport.”
