Wolli Creek’s Ke Sun is among a large group of medical professionals and students preparing for a big, annual concert put on by the NSW Drs Orchestra.
The 80-strong orchestra, who also go by the stage name Musicus Medicus, will perform a show From Russia with Love at the Concourse Concert Hall in Chatswood on Sunday, March 19.
The orchestra’s annual concert helps raise funds for charities in medicine and the arts.
This year, money raised will go towards another event called the NSW Drs Orchestra Sydney Eisteddfod Instrumental Scholarship. It will help fund $10,500 in prize money for emerging Australian instrumentalists aged 16-25, who take part in the scholarship.
NSW Drs Orchestra founder and manager Dr Cathy Fraser said Musicus Medicus aimed to use the universal language of music to raise money for charities.
“A lot of our players have come through the Sydney Eisteddfod and we welcome the opportunity to give back,” she said.
“This year we have some of the most beautiful classical music in a very special repertoire for the audience, played by our dedicated musical medics. The symphony is sublime, and the concerto is dramatic.”
Proceeds from the concert will also benefit Freedom Across Australia.
