A free open air dance festival will be held in Kogarah Town Square this evening to say no to violence against women.
Called One Billion and Rising, the festival is being presented by Kogarah Community Services from 4pm to 7pm.
A total of 11 local dance schools will join together to perform traditional dances from around the world.
They will also be offering free dance classes and inviting the community to join in a flash mob.
“The event is a chance for us to stand together as a community to say we do not accept violence against women and that we want a better and safer future for all women,” a Kogarah Community Services spokeswoman said.
It will be Kogarah Community Services’ fifth annual One Billion and Rising festival and it will coincide with events in more than 200 countries around the world.
There will be stalls providing information and resources for Domestic Violence survivors and Kogarah Community Services will be collecting donations for The Beauty Bank.
