Sutherland Shire’s Eden Wallis didn’t think her life was interesting enough to make it onto national television.

But the 18-year-old is now starring on a new show called My Year 12 Life.

The ABC and Princess Pictures production follows the lives of 14 students from across Australia in their final year of high school. The students did all their own filming and recordings throughout 2016, for the show, which is set to air next week.

Every school night last year, Eden went into her room and logged her day’s activities through a video recording.

She said the recordings could last anywhere from two minutes up to two hours depending on how she was feeling. The footage has now been edited from all 14 students which makes up the bulk of the show.

Eden said she got onto the show following a big interview process and a meet and greet with the show’s producers.

“I heard about the show on Facebook. There was an ad that I clicked on and that led to me getting to where I am now,” she said. “At first, I thought that I wasn’t interesting enough to be on the show, but they ended up selecting me.”

She said it became normal practice filming her thoughts each night after school.

“It was almost therapeutic. I kind of miss it because I was reflecting on everything that was happening,” she said. “I felt like I had a voice compared to some of the girls in my year. So it was cool. The things that I was thinking got sent to someone else that was listening.”

She said she could not go too much into what was talked about, or what she was planning to do this year, but she would be staying in the shire.

Eden lives in Caringbah but attended high school at Presbyterian Ladies' College in Croydon. She first attended the school as a sprinter on a sports scholarship.

The full series is being aired on ABC ME on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 7.30pm from February 20. ABC will also show one episode on Sundays at 6.30pm from February 26.
