Sixteen finalists were named in four categories, with the public invited to vote online.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian will choose the Premier’s Award for Woman of the Year.
The Aboriginal Woman of the Year Award winner will be chosen by the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs Sarah Mitchell.
Profiles of the finalists, released by the Minister for Women Tanya Davies, said Ms Tynan had been instrumental
in positioning the Tynan Motor Group as one of Australia’s top 100 private companies,
with an annual turnover in excess of $500 million.
“Madeline is passionate about
strengthening communities through the education of its youth, empowerment of women,
encouragement of family business and investment and improvement and availability of
medical research,” the profile stated.
“Madeline is currently a board member of the St George and Sutherland
Medical Research Foundation and a committee member of the Family Business
Association.
“In 2016, she launched the Michael Tynan Memorial Challenge consisting
of three events from Wollongong to St George via the Sutherland Shire.
“This event
raised $520,000 for the medical research foundation.
“Business successes aside, Madeline considers her biggest achievement in life is having
a strong and loving marriage [to Wayne Davey] while raising four independent, wonderful, interesting and
compassionate young adults, without an instruction book.”
Ms Davies said the finalists “represent an inspiring cross-section of women who have contributed to diverse industries and communities”.
“Every day women across NSW lead the way in cultural and economic progress,” she said.
“The Women of the Year Awards is an opportunity to recognise these inspirational women.”
Ms Davies said, to be shortlisted, was “an immense achievement, and the nominations are of an impressively high calibre”.
