Miranda police have unveiled their latest new toy; a Jaguar XF.
Purnell Motors Blakehurst loaned the sponsorship car to help support the local commands community programs.
The 2017 white Jaguar XF sports sedan usually retails for $121,000 and will be on loan for one year.
Miranda Inspector Mick Merrett was one of the first officers to drive the car to the launch at Kurnell on Wednesday.
‘’Even driving the 20 km there and back you already get a lot of looks,’’ he said.
‘’It’s a win-win for us. We have the chance for a new vehicle without incurring the costs.’’
He said the car wouldn’t be used for operational purposes and would be showcased at annual events like the Cronulla Spring Fair.
The car will also be used by the domestic violence liaison team and community and engagement officers.
‘’It’s a conversation starter and helps break the ice,’’ he said.
‘’People can’t help but come up and ask questions.’’
Purnell Motors Blakehurst General Sales Manager Aaron Gabriel says the car was sure to catch the eye of car enthusiasts who will see it driving around the Sutherland Shire.
“We are proud to have loaned this vehicle to the NSW Police Force and thought it would be a great opportunity to support the community and put the vehicle into the public arena,” he said.
“It’s great to know this incredible machine will play a key role in the community.”
