As if hitting a hole in one on the golf course wasn’t a great feeling in itself, golfers have the chance to win big too.
Huge prizes are on offer for golfers who can hit a hole in one on the 7th and 18th hole at this year’s South Wagga Rotary Charity Golf Day.
The Good Guys put up $5,000 vouchers for white good on the 7th hole while Scott Oehm from Jupiter Motors puts up a new car on the 18th hole.
Both prizes are unlimited, so it doesn’t matter how many people hit a hole in one, they all win the prize.
The car has been up for grabs for the past few years but no one has been lucky enough to win one.
Now in its 19th year, the golf day has been raising money for worthy local charities each year.
“We would have given away in excess of $200,000 in that time and supported a lot of local chariities,” South Wagga Rotary Charity Golf Day committee member John Wright said.
Some worthy charities include Ronald McDonald House, Country Hope, Kurrajong Warratah, Riding for the disabilied and a variety of other local charitites.
The day started up to replace the antiques fair the club used to run as its major fundraiser.
“It was our best money spinner but it had ran its course and was dying off,” Mr Wright said.
“One of members at the time, Greg Bannon, suggested that we run a golf day and it’s evolved from there.”
Strong support from local busineses helps the event to continue to grow each year.

“The backing and good prizes has helped us to lure golfers and build the event up each year,” Mr Wright said.
The golf day will kick off at the Country Club at 11am on Friday March 17 with a shotgun start.
Golfers will be well catered for after with a drink carts on the course and barbecues set up.
To enter a team of three in the Charity Golf Day give your entry to any member of South Wagga Rotary or email deshamilton@bigpond.com or jdamwright@bigpond.com.
A team of three costs $150 with the number of teams capped at 40.
Last year saw 38 teams take part, organisers are expecting the day to fill up this year with entries currently flowing in.
Entries and payment must be in by Monday March 13.
Businesses that want to get involved can supply a banner which will be displayed on the course for $150 or get their name on the sponsor board for $50.
South Wagga Rotary members will pick up banners from businesses before the event and drop them back after.
“We have a good band of Rotarian workers, everyone gets in and does their job to make the day a success,” Mr Wright said.
A raffle will also run on the day with a cruise as the major prize.
