Jack Glenn of Caringbah and Rachel Perry from Cronulla have secured coveted spots on the 2017 Sydney Water Graduate Program. They are two of 10 graduates selected from over 1400 applications received from students across Australia who qualified for the Sydney Water Graduate Program this year.
Rachel and Jack both attended Laguna Street Public School in Caringbah together and it is fate that has drawn them together again to be working at Sydney Water.
This year, both will be working at Sydney Water’s head office in Parramatta - Rachel as part of the Corporate Strategy team, which works to develop and implement Sydney Water’s core values and strategic plan, while Jack will be educating and engaging with the community through his role in Corporate Public Affairs.
Rachel, who studied a Bachelor of Science (Geography/Marine Science) at the University of Sydney was inspired to apply for the Sydney Water Graduate Program because she “was drawn to the chance to complete a wide range of relevant training and be completely immersed in a range of different team environments.”
Jack, who studied a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) at the University of Wollongong applied for the Sydney Water Graduate Program because he was inspired “to work in a company that champions environmental sustainability”.
“I hope to build on skills I’ve developed so far during my time at university and part time work, as well as build new strengths by absorbing as much as I can from my new team”, said Jack. “Moving forward I’d like to build on my leadership skills and take charge of my own projects as well as be a valuable team player.”
Managing Director of Sydney Water, Kevin Young, said the award winning program employs graduates in a range of fields including IT and analytics, engineering, environmental science, finance and communications.
“The graduate program provides on-the-job experience and high-quality training to university leavers, including a two-week induction period to ease the adjustment from university to full time work.
“We look for a diverse range of talented candidates with innovative ideas and drive to help Sydney Water prepare for tomorrow”, said Mr Young.
Sydney Water graduates are offered up to four 12 month work placements during the four-year rotational program, providing university-leavers with the opportunity to explore many career paths in the one organisation.
Applications for Sydney Water’s 2018 Graduate Program open on 1st March and close on 31st March 2017.
