Connells Point Sailing Club hosted the final round of the NSW International Optimist Dinghy Traveller’s Trophy event on Sunday with more than 60 competitors aged 8 to 15 attending from all parts of Sydney and Lake Macquarie.
A gentle breeze and strong tide made for tight racing, with sailors from Royal Price Alfred Yacht Club (RPAYC) filling the podium in the open fleet.
Local sailor Ava Whitten (Georges River Sailing Club) took home the first female skipper prize as well as third in the intermediate fleet. Connells Point representative, Tom Bryden, placed fourth in the intermediate fleet.
