The deadline for public comment on the Greater Sydney Commission’s draft plan for South District is the end of this month.
South District includes the local government areas of Canterbury-Bankstown, Georges River and Sutherland Shire.
The draft plan was placed on public exhibition on November 21 last year and submissions close on Friday, March 31.
South District commissioner Morris Iemma said residents, community groups, businesses and organisations should make sure their views were heard by making a submission.
“The opinions of the local community are vital and we want everyone who has something to say about the future of our part of Sydney to make a submission, whether it’s short or long, before the end of the month,” he said.
“All submissions will contribute to the final version of the District Plan, which will act as a guide for the future development of our region over the next 20 years.”
Mr Iemma said feedback was also being sought on Towards our Greater Sydney 2056, a draft amendment to the Greater Sydney Region Plan and a “40-year vision” for all of Sydney.
”After March 31, work will continue, including technical working groups with local authorities such as councils, with finalisation by the end of 2017,” he said.
The Draft District Plan and Towards our Greater Sydney 2056 can be viewed on the commission’s website (www.greater.sydney), where submissions can also be made.
