It’s time to step back into the silent era of the silver screen
The Moving Picture Show is back and it’s coming to Mortdale.
Organised by Jan Thorp, The Moving Picture Show screens classic silent films shown in Sydney during the 1920s, all accompanied by an orchestra playing the music from an extensive collection once owned by the State Theatre and used through Sydney during the silent era.
“We also use a man who does the sound effects also as was done in the silent era,” Ms Thorp said.
“It makes for a very exciting show which I love doing.
“We have played at The Sydney Fringe Festival, Fairground Follies, Menangle Steam Museum, Australian Model T Festival and the Chauvel Paddington.
“We are looking forward to performing in our new home in Mortdale RSL.
“And from from now all profits made will go to Autism Spectrum Australia.
“Our film this time will be featuring the heart-throb of the twenties, Rudolph Valentino in The Son of the Sheik plus a Keystone Kops short film.
“This is all accompanied by The Silent Picture Show orchestra playing the music that was used in Sydney at the time and and our sounds effects man.”
