Eighty-six of Sydney Youth Orchestras most talented young musicians from the greater Sydney region, aged between 16 and 25, are about to embark on a landmark music education tour through Europe.
Among them will be Hurstville’s Tania Ma who will visit the musically significant cities of Vienna, Budapest, Salzburg, Prague and Berlin with the orchestra.
The tour will give students the opportunity to perform in world-renowned venues as well as the opportunity to work and develop connections with the world’s leading classical musicians and attend performances by world-class orchestras.
Ma first joined the Sydney Youth Orchestra in 2015, having in previous years played in various youth orchestras including the SBS Radio and Television Youth Orchestra.
She attended St George Girls High School in Kogarah where she was Concertmaster of the school orchestra and principal clarinet of the concert band.
In her final year of high school, she led both ensembles in performances at Sydney Town Hall.
In 2014 she was selected to perform a violin solo as part of the Festival of Instrumental Music at the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall.
She currently a second year student at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music studying violin.
Sydney Youth Orchestras will showcase some of the repertoire that will be performed and workshopped overseas in a special performance at The Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
Intrepid Voyagers is the Orchestra’s first major concert for 2017. They will perform Mussorgsky's Pictures.
