Energy bills can make a substantial dent in your savings, so it might be worth taking a look at the details to check if you can save.
One expert said that it’s important for people to understand the energy efficiency of appliances and the "power guzzlers" that could be impacting usage.
"Power Guzzlers would include your clothes dryer, vacuum, hair dryer, swimming pool pump, microwave, electric kettle, large refrigerators, dishwasher and the iron," Nathan Davies, CEO of Go Switch said.
According to Mr Davies, to save people should consider their choice of energy retailer and the rates charged per kw/h, the discounts offered for paying on time and daily supply charges.
"You can make a real difference to your energy bills by managing daily usage and exploring the retailer options available in your area," Mr Davies said.
Here are his top tips to consider if you want to cut energy costs:
TIMING – consider the time of the day that you use heating and cooling systems as time-of-use pricing and off-peak hot water could help to manage costs.
POWER – Consider turning appliances off instead of stand-by mode.
METER – Find out what type of electricity meter you have. Is it a "smart" meter and are there controlled loads available?
SOLAR – If you have a solar system, take the time to find out about the performance of your system and how it is contributing to your energy profile.
