One of the simplest ways to rejuvenate your home’s interior is to update window furnishings.
According to Richard Misso, interior design expert and creative director at The Stylesmiths, window furnishings are a focal point.
“When it comes to window furnishings, I believe keeping it fresh and current is super important. Your home can look easily dated and stuck in a time warp if they’re not updated as window furnishings are such a focal point,” Mr Misso said.
He explained the right window furnishings should complement the interior’s style and era.
“Look at the entire colour and texture pallet of your room before deciding on colours and materials,” Mr Misso said.
But he also said people should consider practical aspects.
“Take into consideration, if you want to let in light, block out harsh sunlight, reduce your heating and cooling bills. These factors are all critical,” Mr Misso said.
The Stylesmiths creative director also shared his tips on what’s trending.
“At the Stylesmiths we love to add layers, shade and textures. Metallic surfaces are back in vogue, bronze and gold metallic fabrics layered with sheers are making a grand appearance in living rooms and bedrooms. The simple layering of these metallics draped from a classic metal rod blends beautifully with the latest color trends such as inky blues and murky greens.
“Also charcoal and slate are the new neutrals and blend beautifully with the metallic trends. Darker neutral fabrics frame a window elegantly and adds a more sophisticated look to your room,” Mr Misso said.
An example of a store that sell on trend window furnishings is West Elm and their contemporary collection of curtains that adorn metallic components, vibrant patterns, velvet and sheer fabrics.
An alternative way to block out light, achieve privacy and choose something timeless is to consider simple and neutral colour blinds.
With Autumn weather, people may want to consider installing window furnishings, such as Luxaflex’s Duette Architella Shades.
The collection introduces an insulation barrier to reduce outside’s cool temperatures from entering inside.
Architella Ménage Shades feature a unique honeycomb structure with six layers of fabric, which trap air and act as insulation for windows, while combining PowerView™ Motorisation for energy efficient operation.
Consumers have the option of using The intuitive PowerView™ App for Apple and Android mobile devices to operate the shades automatically.
