THE roof will be raised at Sutherland Entertainment Centre on Friday night when The Australian Tenors come to town.
Soloists in their own right, The Australian Tenors — Murray Mayday, Thomas Strong, Lorenzo Rositano, Stuart Neilson Kemp and David Hamilton — have been praised for bringing romance and excitement, warmth and humour to their performances as a group.
‘‘We are looking forward to returning to the Sutherland,’’ Hamilton said.
‘‘The audiences in the shire are so appreciative of the excellence of the beautiful tenor voice.’’
Hamilton said the Australian Tenors have performed nationally and internationally for presidents, heads of state and Australian Prime Ministers.
In their respective careers, all of the tenors have performed as principals for Opera Australia, Saarbrucken Opera House, Opera de Monte Carlo, at Covent Garden and with the Scottish Opera.
The group will present a versatile classical repertoire to their shire audience. This will include I Am Australian, Waltzing Matilda and the Dorothea Mackellar poem My Country.
There will also be renditions of La Donna e Mobile and Nessun Dorma as well as Somewhere from West Side Story and All I Ask of You from Phantom of the Opera.
They are backed by The Southern Cross Orchestra under the direction of musical director and conductor Bernard Walz and supported by soprano Georgia Kokkoris.
There are still tickets available to see this internationally-renowned group on April 30 at 2pm.
Also appearing at the Sutherland Entertainment Centre this week is Angela Lumicisi performing her show “We’ve Only Just Begun: The Music of the Carpenters” on Friday, April 28, at 8pm.
Lumicisi, an Australian music theatre star, channels Karen Carpenter’s unique voice to recreate the distinctive style that made the Carpenters among the best-selling music artists of all time.
Songs include Top of the World, Close To You, Yesterday Once More - We’ve Only Just Begun.
