Fast fingers and perfectly rehearsed pieces were on show at the 2017 edition of the Sutherland Shire Eisteddfod Pianoforte.
Husband and wife pair Nola and Roderick MacFarlane have been running the piano show for about 30 years.
The 2017 edition attracted about 120 entries across all ages at the Oatley Uniting Church hall last Thursday.
Mrs MacFarlane said it was a great day of music recitals.
“It went very well. About 50 kids got trophies and there would have been about 120 [entries],” she said.
“The participants also received some good guidance for their exams and a report from an adjudicator.”
Top awards went to participants in the championship division, Mrs MacFarlane said.
To be eligible to compete in the division, participants had to play two contrasting pieces.
The winners included Antonius Yasintus (12-and-under), Lesley Yu (14-and-under), Jackson Jap (16-and-under) and Yenny Jap (open) – each taking home $50 and a trophy.
The event saw pianists as young as five taking part.
